DegustAbruzzo accompanies you on an exciting journey of educational culinary art, a dream come true for anyone eager to learn about the fantastic dishes and traditions from Abruzzo. Participants and guides on this journey share a passion for 'buona cucina' (good cuisine).


Day 1:

Morning: Transfer from Roma FCA to Vasto in a minibus. Check-in at the hotel.

Afternoon: Guided visit to the ancient Roman city of Vasto, located on the Adriatic Sea and full of historical gems, sometimes referred to as the 'Athens of Italy.'

Dinner with local dishes and wines. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 2:

Morning: After a traditional breakfast, visit the local market 'Santa Chiara' to buy ingredients for a pasta cooking course, where you'll learn to prepare pasta dishes and typical Abruzzese cookies. Lunch will consist of the dishes prepared during the morning session.

Afternoon: Enjoy a light and picturesque walk in the unique natural reserve 'Riserva Naturale di Punta Aderci', named one of the ten most beautiful beaches in Italy by 'The Telegraph,' and visit a 'trabocco' (an ancient fishing platform). Explore a renowned olive oil mill ('frantoio') and taste the 'olio extravergine d'oliva,' known as the 'golden oil of Abruzzo.' Free time for walking or relaxation. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 3:

Morning: After breakfast, visit the enchanting Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, built a thousand years ago and overlooking the coastal village of Fossacesia. Then, set off to discover the 'Costa dei Trabocchi,' where you'll see the ancient sea stilt constructions used for fishing. Rinaldo, a local expert, will demonstrate the fishing process from his trabocco and teach the preparation of typical fish dishes from the region. Lunch will be enjoyed on the trabocco, featuring fish and seafood delicacies.

Afternoon: Visit a prestigious winery ('cantina') to taste some excellent wines. Return to Vasto. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 4:

Morning: After breakfast, visit a farm where you'll learn about cow and sheep husbandry, with the opportunity to milk a cow or sheep for those interested.

Afternoon: Enjoy a snack of local cheeses, followed by a demonstration of ricotta cheese-making and a special bread called 'pizza scima.' A delicious lunch will follow.

The journey continues to Roccascalegna, where you'll visit the majestic castle and hear about the ancient tradition of 'ius primae noctis.'

Return to Vasto. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 5:

Morning: After breakfast, visit Francesca, who will teach you the art of 'ripieno' (filling). Together, you'll prepare your lunch, learning how to make 'pallotte cacio e uova' (cheese balls), ravioli with ricotta and spinach, and other typical Abruzzese dishes, including sweet 'pizzelle.'

Afternoon: Free time to explore the center, visit the beach, or simply relax.

Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 6:

Morning: After breakfast, visit Vittoria, who will teach you various truffle preparations. With her guidance, you'll create a delicious lunch using truffles.

Afternoon: Take a short walk to admire the 'Cascate naturali del Verde,' a waterfall that cascades in three stages over a distance of 200 meters. These are the highest natural waterfalls in the Apennines, the second-highest in Italy, and among the highest in Europe.

Dinner on your own. Overnight stay at the hotel.


Day 7:

After breakfast, depart in a minibus to Roma FCO airport. End of the vacation.
